2026 Paris Motor Show: smart #2, up to 290km (WLTP)

PARIS: The all-electric smart #2 recently celebrated its world premiere at the 2026 Paris Motor Show.

Measuring just 2,746 mm in length, the new smart two-seater retains the ‘wheels-at-the-corners’ stance that has defined the model since its first generation.

It has a turning circle of 6.95 metres curb-to-curb.

There is a practical interior with clever solutions for everyday mobility, two-tone body colour and an iconic Split Tailgate.

“The smart #2 marks the return of an automotive icon, reimagined for modern cities in Europe and around the globe," said smart Europe GmbH CEO Wolfgang Ufer.

At the core of the smart #2 is the newly developed Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform, engineered specifically for the new smart two-seater.

The power comes from a rear-mounted 60kW electric motor that delivers 130Nm of torque to the rear wheels.

Wider rear tyres further enhance stability and dynamics.

The battery itself is a 35.8kWh LFP unit, delivering up to 180 miles or 290km of combined range (WLTP; target value) and supporting 65kW DC fast charging, taking it from 10% to 80% state of charge within 20 minutes.

The smart #2 also offers AC charging up to 11kW.

Vehicle-to-load (V2L)5 capability further extends its usability beyond the road.

The five-link rear suspension of the new smart #2, a first in its class, supports confident and composed driving.

Combined with the low centre of gravity of the floor-mounted battery, this advanced suspension architecture enables a direct steering geometry, delivering both sportier handling.

The smart #2's body structure is defined by the Tridion Cell Evo, the next generation of the safety cell that has characterised smart since its very first model.

Beyond structural safety, the smart #2 comes equipped with multiple driver assistance systems as standard, including smart Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go and Highway Assist.

Currently announced for the UK market are two core trim lines of the #2 – Pure and Premium – alongside a limited Couture Edition.

The interior of all variants combines a continuous bench-style seating arrangement, an S-shaped cockpit, intuitive operation modes and a clearly structured, open cabin.

A 10.1-inch central screen paired with an 8.8-inch driver display enables 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, backed by an eight-year Connectivity Package that keeps the smart #2 continuously linked to its connected vehicle services.

A standout detail is the smart Pillar in the dashboard, where small gadgets can be mounted for quick access on the go.
