2026 Proton S70: Bookings open, new 4-cylinder engine, 181PS/290Nm

SHAH ALAM: Bookings for the 2026 Proton S70 will open from Feb 7, and the sporty sedan will be powered by a turbocharged i-GT 1.5-litre engine paired with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).

Customers can place a RM500 booking fee at authorised Proton 3S/4S showrooms, ahead of the official launch on Feb 11.

This four-cylinder powertrain, with 181PS and 290Nm of torque, is also found in the 2025 Proton X50 facelift.

Proton says the 2026 S70 delivers upgrades in both performance and styling, while also achieving class-leading standards in intelligent safety features.

"It offers more responsive performance, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced safety technologies," says the national automaker.

The updated powertrain delivers stronger acceleration, and the S70 can reach 0–100kph in 7.5 seconds, while maintaining fuel efficiency of 5.7 litres per 100km.

Proton says the enhanced calibration ensures smoother gear shifts, more responsive performance, and lower running costs.

Enhanced styling sharpens the S70’s athletic presence with LED headlamps and daytime running lamps, new 17-inch alloy wheels, and an updated aerokit.

Inside, a sleek black interior with refined finishes enhances the driver-focused cabin.

There is also a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice interaction.

The 2026 S70 is fitted with 13 Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features.

Key driver support functions include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
