SYDNEY: Toyota’s upgraded bZ4X battery-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) is now on sale in Australia.
It offers improved driving range, increased performance and additional safety and convenience features.
Toyota Australia will further expand its BEV (battery-electric vehicle) offering in the second quarter of 2026 with the arrival of the new bZ4X Touring which will provide even greater powertrain output along with additional rear storage,
In addition to the front-wheel drive model, the bZ4X is also available in AWD (all-wheel drive) which gains a 92kW lift in power output to a combined 252kW.

Both grades benefit from a larger 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery, paired on 2WD (two-wheel drive) grades with a more powerful front-mounted electric motor generator producing 165kW of power and 268.6Nm of torque.
The upgraded battery helps contribute to a greatly increased 2WD driving range of 591km (WLTP) and on the AWD grade, a range of 517km.
Charging performance has also been improved, with 22kW three-phase AC charging system now standard on Australian models, which can charge the battery from 10% to full in as little as 3.5 hours when connected to a 32A, 3-phase power supply.
With 150kW DC charging, the bZ4X can be charged from 10% - 80% in 30 minutes.

Engineers have optimised the performance of the eAxle integrated inverter, motor and transaxle, helping to reduce power losses and weight while enhancing output.
Paddle shifters have been added to the steering wheel, which are used to program four different levels of regenerative braking strength to suit the driver’s preferences.
The bZ4X lineup has received multiple upgrades with 2WD models gaining newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels with two-tone aero covers, roof rails, puddle lamps, headlamp cleaners and gloss black wheel arches.

Additional comfort and technology features have been included as standard, including a larger 14.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, two front wireless smartphone chargers, nanoeX cabin air ionisation, a powered tailgate with kick sensor, and a 1500W inverter in the luggage area which can be used to remotely power smaller appliances.
AWD grades also feature the X-Mode off-road traction control system, downhill assist control and vehicle stability control.
New features for the bZ4X AWD include new-look, aerodynamically enhanced 20-inch alloy wheels, memory and reverse tilt function for the heated exterior mirrors, eight-way adjustable front seats, and digital rearview mirror.
