SYDNEY: The CLA Shooting Brake makes its return to Australia, with the Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 Shooting Brake and the first-ever all-electric Shooting Brake, the CLA 200 Shooting Brake electric.
Both model variants are expected to arrive in Australian showrooms January 2027.
Both bring the style of the latest CLA into a versatile body, with a longer roofline, large rear tailgate, increased luggage space and more headroom in the front and back row.
The CLA 200 Shooting Brake combines a four-cylinder petrol engine with a 1.5-litre displacement and a newly developed 48-volt lithium-ion battery, offering an energy content of up to 1.3 kWh.
This advanced hybrid system delivers smoother transitions between electric and combustion power, with drive delivered to the front wheels.

Integrated into the compact eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (8F-eDCT), the electric motor and inverter provide assistance across the entire speed range.
Meanwhile, the CLA 200 Shooting Brake electric offers a range of up to 511km (WLTP).
The 800-volt electrical architecture enables DC fast charging at up to 320kW.
AC charging at up to 22kW is also available.
A newly developed electric drive system combines a permanently excited synchronous machine (PSM) with a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle.
The CLA Shooting Brake electric also features the one-box braking system.

It optimises energy recuperation of up to 200kW, allowing a significant proportion of everyday braking to be performed through the electric drivetrain, recovering energy that would otherwise be lost.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake retains the distinctive sporting proportions of the CLA while extending the roof further towards the rear to provide additional interior space.
Sharing its design with the CLA Coupé up to the B-pillar, the Shooting Brake features the same low greenhouse and distinctive shark-nose front end.
Flush-fitting door handles contribute to the clean profile, while a panoramic glass roof extends from the windscreen towards the rear to create a light, open cabin.
A 455-litre luggage compartment provides useful everyday capacity, while the rear seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 configuration to increase cargo space to as much as 1,290 litres.

A maximum load width of 1,418mm makes it easier to accommodate larger items.
Larger rear door openings make access to the second row easier, while the longer, higher body provides an additional 26mm of rear headroom compared with the Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé.
Front occupants also benefit from an extra 14mm of headroom and 11mm of legroom.
The all-new CLA family, including the Shooting Brake, is underpinned by the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), connecting the vehicle with the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud and supporting regular over-the-air (OTA) updates.
Both Shooting Brake variants feature MBUX navigation, 5G connectivity, wireless smartphone charging and smartphone integration as standard.

The fourth-generation MBUX incorporates artificial intelligence from Microsoft and Google, which allows the MBUX Virtual Assistant to handle more natural, multi-part conversations.
An extensive suite of driver assistance and parking technologies are included as standard.
Distance Assist Distronic helps maintain a selected distance from vehicles ahead, while Blind Spot Assist and Blind Spot Assist Plus provide additional awareness of vehicles approaching from behind or adjacent lanes.
Brake Assist supports the driver in potentially hazardous situations, while Manoeuvring Assist and a reversing camera provide added reassurance when navigating tight spaces.
Standard technologies also include a 360-degree camera and enhanced parking functions.
