2027 Nissan Patrol: RHD production starts for Australia

MELBOURNE: Production of the 2027 Nissan Patrol has started in Kyushu, Japan, with the first right-hand-drive Patrol vehicles rolling off the line at the Nissan Shatai Kyushu plant, destined for Australia.

This marks the start of Patrol production for right-hand-drive markets, continuing Nissan Shatai Kyushu’s tradition of assembling Patrol vehicles for Australia and global markets.

The factory also produces Infiniti’s flagship QX80 SUV (sport utility vehicle) and the recently launched Nissan Elgrand premium minivan exclusively for Japan.

Built on an all-new ladder-frame chassis, the all-new Patrol features substantially larger frame side members, delivering higher static torsional stiffness than the outgoing Y62 Patrol.

The larger frame side members contribute to a 40 per cent increase in torsional rigidity, while also improving noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), handling and ride comfort.

The new chassis also supports the 2027 Patrol’s increased 3,700kg maximum braked towing capacity and contributes to even higher levels of durability.

The 2027 Patrol also features a significant increase in the use of high-strength steel within its body structure.

High-strength steel now accounts for 27 per cent of the total body structure — a 21 percentage point increase over the outgoing Y62 Patrol.

The increased use of high-strength steel helps to create a stronger and more rigid body structure, supporting enhanced durability and occupant protection while helping to optimise overall vehicle weight.

The first Australian customer deliveries are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
