2027 Proton S70 RS: New grille, sharper detailing, sportier cabin

SUBANG JAYA: The 1.5-litre turbocharged Proton S70 gets updated with a refreshed design, a sportier cabin and a RS moniker which stands for "Refined Sportiness".

National carmaker Proton says the RS moniker reflects a bolder expression of the S70’s sporty character.

Guided by the theme “Performance with Style”, the 2027 S70 RS builds on the current S70’s sporty DNA.

At the front, the 2027 S70 RS gets a redesigned grille and bumper, with intricate detailing and red accents adding contrast and depth.

Along the sides, sporty skirts and 17-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers reinforce its planted stance, while the redesigned rear bumper, diffuser and quad exhaust-tip finishers give the car a more purposeful appearance.

In the cabin, a dual-tone interior with red accents creates a more distinctive sporting atmosphere.

The floating centre console and ambient lighting introduce a contemporary touch, while the Commander Dial and Automatic Column Shifter bring selected controls within convenient reach.

There is no change in the powertrain, as the 2027 S70 RS is still powered by a i-GT 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

“The S70 has established itself as Malaysia’s sporty sedan, and the 2027 S70 RS represents the next step in that journey. Through Refined Sportiness, we are giving the model a more distinctive identity with purposeful design, turbocharged performance and a sportier, driver-focused cabin,” said Proton deputy CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa.

To further bring the 'Performance with Style' theme to life, Proton will present a fashion showcase in collaboration with a renowned local fashion designer on Nov 10, 2026 at 8pm.

Combining the 2027 S70 RS line-off reveal with an industrial-inspired runway, the showcase will spotlight the sedan’s sporty character through a bold fusion of automotive design and contemporary fashion.

The event will be livestreamed on Proton’s official social media platforms.
