2027 Volkswagen ID. Tiguan: Up to 600km (WLTP)

WOLFSBURG: The new Volkswagen ID. Tiguan has made its world premiere, and WLTP ranges will reach up to 600km, depending on the power and battery size.

The ID. Tiguan will come in three performance levels:

  • a rear-wheel drive version with 140kW (190PS) and 58kWh battery
  • a rear-wheel drive version with 210kW (286PS) and 77kWh battery
  • a 220kW (299PS) 4Motion all-wheel drive variant, also with a 77kWh battery.

The new all-round SUV (sport utility vehicle) in the high-volume mid-size class succeeds the ID.4 and ID.5 models.

The ID. Tiguan will be launched as early as the beginning of 2027 – in parallel to the current Tiguan with petrol, diesel and hybrid drives.

Its towing capacity is up to 1,800kg with the 58kWh battery, and up to 2,000kg with the 77kWh battery.

In addition, there is a frunk with 32 litres of stowage space and a luggage compartment volume of up to 534 litres.

The ID. Tiguan will be available in the four equipment versions - Trend, Life, Style and R-Line.

In the cockpit, highlights include a co-driver display (12-inch, 30.5-cm diagonal), the first time a feature like this has appeared in a European Volkswagen.

The 10-inch driver display (Digital Cockpit, 25.4-cm diagonal) and the central 15-inch infotainment display (38.1-cm diagonal) are also new.

Together with the co-driver display, this results in a continuous display landscape that opens up a new world, especially for the front passenger – one where they can immerse themselves in their own world of infotainment, information, and gaming without distracting the driver.

This is because the display is not visible to the driver, as with a laptop privacy screen (privacy mode).

In privacy mode, the front passenger can listen to the sound on their paired Bluetooth headphones.

In addition, Volkswagen is returning to classic pull-style door handles with the ID. Tiguan.

Volkswagen has implemented a clear operating logic throughout the ID. Tiguan.

Important functions can therefore be accessed using physical buttons again and have been incorporated into the interior where you would intuitively expect to find them.

The air conditioning system is a prime example of this: the basic functions are now controlled via a button bar in the centre console.

Another new feature is the multifunction steering wheel with physical buttons instead of touch controls.

There are features such as the standard-equipment one-pedal driving (strong deceleration using the accelerator pedal alone), and the new Connected Travel Assist, which, among other things, enables assisted lane changing on motorways and automatically stops the ID. Tiguan at red traffic lights.

In addition, comfort features such as electrically adjustable front seats with massage, memory and ventilation functions as well as a high-end sound system from Harman Kardon with an output of 480 watts and a panoramic sunroof will be part of the optional equipment range.

A practical and flexible feature is the Digital Key.

This enables the vehicle to be unlocked, locked and started using a compatible smartphone.

The Digital Key can also be transferred to family members, friends or colleagues – using the Volkswagen app, it can be shared easily by means of text message, messenger services or email.
