99 Speedmart receives Malaysia’s first fully electric Foton trucks

KUALA LUMPUR: 99 Speed Mart Sdn Bhd took delivery of Malaysia’s first fully electric Foton eAumark light-duty trucks today, receiving 10 units from Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd in a handover ceremony, marking a step toward a cleaner, more efficient logistics fleet.

“With this procurement of 10 Foton eAumark electric trucks, it marks an important step for 99 Speedmart to expand our reach further whilst building avenues for greater environmental sustainability.

“As our national goal is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, our position as the leading grocery retailer means that we approach this goal from a position of responsibility,” 99 Speed Mart optimisation and sustainability officer Lee Yan Zhong said in a statement.

The mini market chain said the electricity used to charge the trucks is partly sourced from solar PV systems at its distribution centres, further boosting environmental efficiency in its operations.

Tan Keng Meng, CEO of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, the parent company of Angka-Tan Motor, said this milestone is not just about fleet expansion but also a strong reflection of their shared vision for a cleaner, smarter future.

“We are honoured to stand alongside 99 Speedmart as they take bold steps toward sustainable logistics with the adoption of the Foton eAumark electric trucks.

“Their continued confidence in Angka-Tan Motor and Foton speaks volumes about the strength of our partnership – one built on trust, innovation, and a deep commitment to environmental responsibility. Together, we are driving meaningful change for the future of logistics in Malaysia.”
