A final facelift: The last update before Porsche Macan goes electric

STUTTGART: It was supposed to be retired soon. But because the successor to the Porsche Macan will be a pure electric, and that won't be ready until 2023, its lifespan is being expanded with one final facelift.

The Macan has been given an updated design, interior and engine range, with the German luxury car maker set to start deliveries at the beginning of October to bridge the time until the all-electric version debuts.

However Porsche won't be killing off the combustion engine just yet, and the facelifted Macan will still be sold in parallel to its upcoming electric counterpart in some markets for some time, according to the manufacturer.

Porsche has mainly updated the engine range and trimmed down the selection. For example, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo in the base model now has 265hp and the Macan S comes with a V6 with 380hp.

The Macan GTS increases by 60hp to 440hp, while the turbo version is not available. The more tightly tuned GTS is therefore this range's powerful flagship and also has a new sports air suspension.

At its best, the Macan accelerates from a standstill to 100kph in 4.3 seconds and achieves a top speed of 273kph. WLTP consumption is 10.1 to 11.3 litres and CO2 emissions 228 to 265 g/km, depending on model and engine variant.

To go with the re-sorted engine range, there are modified aprons and sills all around the exterior and a new centre console inside, inspired by the Panamera, with more space and fewer switches. In addition, Porsche says LED headlights are now standard.

Prices in Europe start at 62,917 euros for the base model. The S and GTS versions start at 71,723 euros and 88,264 euros respectively.
