Advanced Accumulators: Battery subscription programme to transform fleet management

KUALA LUMPUR: Battery and automotive solutionist Advanced Accumulators has launched Southeast Asia’s first battery subscription programme for commercial vehicles.

In a statement, the company said this is set to transform fleet efficiency and energy optimisation across the region.

Advanced Accumulators is a joint venture between battery technologist VXI Crest, along with two of Malaysia’s largest independent automotive battery distributors, YSK Marketing and FJ Union.

“We are integrating technologies such as borderless IoT SIM cards and GPS modules for visibility and connectivity to create an IoT-enabled smart starter battery. Our batteries are not just smarter, they make fleets more efficient and environmentally friendly," said VXI Crest co-founder and CEO Dennis Yong.

“We are the first in Malaysia and the region to introduce subscription-based connected batteries for commercial vehicles.

“Operators are guaranteed 100% battery uptime at the same ownership cost they would normally incur on replacing failed starter batteries,” he said.

"With our advanced battery and fleet system, we are redefining the battery’s role in fleet operations, making it a budgeted expense, versus what was traditionally a breakdown and unplanned expense,” he added.

Utilising Lithium Ferrous Phosphate (LFP) technology, these smart starter batteries offer higher power, superior charge acceptance and store 200 to 400% more energy compared to lead-acid batteries, at less than half the weight.

“Fleet owners no longer need to worry about battery lifespans, as the batteries are leased, monitored and maintained by us. On the other hand, commercial vehicle owners can look forward to a guaranteed battery uptime as opposed to a 6-month warranty,” said YSK Marketing founder Raymond Tee.

“While lead-acid batteries are over 90% recyclable, they often suffer from negative perceptions due to challenges such as premature disposal and unregulated smelting, which can result in the introduction of hazardous materials into the ecosystem.

“Subscription-based models help mitigate these sustainability issues by reducing early battery disposal and promoting full battery utilisation, while maintaining visibility at all times”, added FJ Union Battery Auto Service founder Neo Yu Lian.

To further boost fleet efficiency and visibility, businesses can access the VxI Connect fleet management dashboard to view vehicles’ real-time fleet status, battery and vehicle health, maintenance schedules, vehicle usage patterns, route analysis and anomalies.

This also works with its VxI Connect mobile app that gives the driver battery and vehicle visibility.

The app can prompt drivers to switch off their engines and rely on battery-powered climate control, and can jumpstart an over-discharged battery using the web or mobile app, rather than calling for roadside assistance.

Businesses can save two to three litres of fuel per hour per vehicle otherwise spent on idling, and ensure reliable engine starts every time.

With a growing regional presence and a vision to scale to 60,000 connected vehicles per annum, Advanced Accumulators is expanding through strategic regional partnerships, including PT PolarG in Indonesia and United Motor Works Siam in Thailand.

This collaborative approach marks a pivotal step toward redefining battery intelligence and mobility solutions throughout Southeast Asia.
