BUTTERWORTH: The Finance Ministry is working with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to urgently resolve technical issues related to eligibility checks for the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) programme ahead of its official rollout tomorrow.
Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said this followed complaints from the public who claimed they were listed as ineligible despite holding valid driving licences and MyKad.
She said the cases were isolated, involving only a small number of individuals, but stressed that the ministry was taking the matter seriously and would ensure the issue was resolved before Budi95’s full implementation tomorrow.
“Yesterday, we received several complaints from people with valid licences and MyKad who were found to be ineligible.
“The ministry is in discussions with JPJ and we will resolve this technical issue as soon as possible before tomorrow,” she told reporters after inspecting the Budi95 rollout for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients at a petrol station at Jalan Raja Uda here yesterday.
She urged the public to check their eligibility profile immediately at www.budimadani.gov.my, and for those encountering problems to file complaints so investigations and corrective action can be taken quickly.
Apart from the complaint service centre, Lim said the public can also contact the hotline 1300-88-9595 and provide details such as their name, identity card number and valid driving licence for verification and follow-up.
“I want to emphasise that, as long as an individual is an eligible Malaysian, they are fully entitled to benefit from Budi95. There may be minor delays or technical glitches, but we will make sure these are resolved quickly.”
Ahead of the full implementation scheduled for tomorrow, Lim urged the public to stay calm and to carry on with their purchases as usual.
She said there was no need to hurry, as each eligible individual has been allocated a quota of 300 litres per month, which can be purchased at any time according to their needs.
Earlier, she reported that the implementation of Budi95 for STR recipients, the second group to benefit from the initiative that started yesterday, was running smoothly nationwide with no complaints received.
“Everything is ready. We have tested various methods – the Setel (PETRONAS) app, cash and the Touch ‘n Go e-wallet – and all worked smoothly,” she said.
The Finance Ministry also said that as of Sept 25, a total of 8.1 million users had checked their eligibility through the official website, reflecting a very encouraging public response.
