By JAY WONG | 14 October 2020HIROSHIMA: In a recent announcement, Mazda's has confirmed that its MX-30 crossover will use a rotary engine as a range extender.
According to Mazda CEO Akira Marumoto, prototype testing will begin next year with the goal of having a production version on Japanese roads by 2022.
Not much information has been provided on the rotary engine as yet, but it has been assumed to be compact, powerful and smooth.
At present, the Japanese company has not announced that it will utilise the engine in other models, but at least we know the RX-8's suicide doors are alive and well.
