The first production EV model from Volvo was launched in Malaysia in March.
Volvo Car Malaysia has received over 400 orders to-date and delivered over 120 units to buyers nationwide.
Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Charles Frump said the encouraging sales numbers is a stepping stone to the company's all-electric journey.
Volvo Car Malaysia will also locally assemble EV cars for Malaysia and regional markets.
"We have started delivery of the cars to our customers since April, providing them with a vehicle that allows them the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way,” he said.
Volvo Car Malaysia also said that due to demand, online order request for the MY22 electric XC40 is now closed.
Volvo Car Malaysia will begin taking orders again with the introduction of Model Year 2023.

The electric CX40 is based on the comventional XC40 compact premium SUV.
The EV has an all-wheel-drive powertrain and a driving range of up to 418km.
Available colours are Black Stone, Crystal White Pearl, Denim Blue, Glacier Silver and Sage Green.
