PETALING JAYA: Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has launched the Dynamic version of the third-generation Range Rover Sport sports (L461) utility vehicle (SUV).

Priced from RM1,698,000 (inclusive of duties and taxes), the Range Rover Sport Dynamic is powered by a 3.0-litre (2,997cc) turbocharger V6 Ingenium engine.

Power is rated at 395hp from 5,500 to 6,500rpm and 550Nm of torque from 2,000 to 5,000rpm for this SUV which is managed by an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with paddle-shifters - allowing it to sprint from 0-100kph in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 242kph.

The transmission comes with a twin-speed transfer box for high-low speed ranges, an open differential with torque vectoring via braking and an All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) system - Land Rover speak for an off-road adaptive cruise control system.

However, the ATPC will work with its Terrain Response 2 system to ensure traction is available at every instance while also prioritising passenger comfort should the way ahead get too rough.

The 2,130kg (curb weight) Dynamic variant rolls on 22-inch Style 5127 Satin Dark Grey wheels wrapped by 285/45 series tyres with tyre pressure monitoring system and a wheelbase of 2,997mm.

The wheels practically obscure the Dynamic air-suspension system that can raise its 216mm road-going ride height to 280mm for off-roading duties and allow for a maximum wading depth of 900mm.

Furthermore, it increases its approach angle to 33-degrees (+6.9-degrees), departure angle to 30-degrees (+5.1 degrees) and ramp angle to 26.9-degrees (+5.4 degrees).

The list of premium goodies includes a heated windscreen, headlight washer jets with a power wash function, LEDs for the front headlights with image projection, daytime runners, and rear light clusters with dynamic turn signals.

Also included are pop-out door handles, Range Rover scripted metal door plates, manual sun blinds for the rear doors, powered front and rear seats as well as power-folding external mirrors with illumination function, driver-side anti-dazzle function and memory function.

While comfort and convenience come in the form of quad-zone climate controls, wireless charger, configurable cabin lighting, air quality sensor and the Cabin Air Purification Pro system, there are also illuminated seatbelt buckles, plush leather interior and a soft door-closure system to up that luxury feel.

The driver gets exclusive access to a 13.7-inch digital instrument display along with a heads-up-display (HUD) bright metal foot pedals, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with power adjustability and a unique ClearSight interior rearview mirror which can be activated at a flick of a tab centrally located at the bottom of the rearview mirror.

Entry and exit are aided by an automatic access height function which drops the suspension down up to 20mm upon turning off the ignition and a further 30mm once a door is opened.

The infotainment system uses a curved 13.1-inch touchscreen to house its latest Pivi Pro system that not only powers the premium sound system by Meridian but also feeds information to the HUD while providing other connectivity options including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity.

In terms of safety, the L461 is equipped with six airbags, anti-lock braking system, dynamic stability control and hill descent control among others.

Safety is further bolstered by advanced driver assistance systems such as blind spot assist, emergency braking, occupant protection system, 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control with steering aid, driver condition response, lane-keep assist park assist, front and rear parking aid, traffic sign recognition and adaptive speed limiter to name a few.

"The third generation of the Range Rover Sport is celebrated globally for its combination of luxury and performance. We are confident that it will set new benchmarks for the luxury SUV market," said Sime Darby Motors (Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Macau) retail and distributions managing director Jeffrey Gan.

A Special Vehicle (SV) variant will be available at a later date. It will have a more potent 4.4-litre (4,395cc) turbocharged V8 engine.

In this case, the SV's engine will produce 626hp from 6,000 to 7,000rpm and 750Nm of torque from a lowly 1,800 to 5,855rpm.

This will allow the more punchy variant to complete the century sprint in 3.8 seconds and achieve a top speed of 290kph.
