Angka-Tan Motor unveils first all-electric light-duty truck to go on sale locally


SERI KEMBANGAN: Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd (ATM), sole distributor of Foton Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), Foton Auman and JMC vehicles in Malaysia, moves to revolutionise the domestic logistics landscape with the launch of three new truck models covering various light commercial applications.

Unveiled at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2024 here, the vehicles are the all-electric Foton eAumark, the Foton Aumark S Euro 4 and JMC Vigus Pro White Series 4x2 (Euro 4).

As the first pure-electric light-duty truck to officially go on sale in Malaysia, the eAumark BJ1045EVJAR3 retails at an introductory price of RM238,000 and gets a factory warranty covering the cabin and chassis for up to three years or 100,000km, whichever comes first.

Additionally, the drive motor, 81.14kWh battery and controller are covered by a five-year warranty, capped at 200,000km.

The eAumark is 5,960mm long, 2,000mm wide and 2,210mm tall with a 3,360mm wheelbase and with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) ranging from 4,250kg to 6,000kg.

Powering the Foton eAumark is a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that develops 115kW and over 900Nm of torque.

Its 81.14kWh iron-phosphate battery from renowned EV battery supplier CATL allows a WLTP-rated range of up to 200km.

The pure electric powertrain is engineered to withstand extreme weather conditions such as the tropical climate of Malaysia, with the battery being certified for IP67 water and dust resistance.

The eAumark can also supply 10kW of power to an ePTO port to which external equipment can be attached.

It is also offered with a complimentary 22kW AC Wallbox Charger.

In addition to the AC Charger, owners can leverage on DC charging facilities that are made available in the rapidly growing charging network in Malaysia.

The eAumark can recharge from 20% SoC to 100% in just one hour, using the DC charger.

The vehicle is equipped with LED headlights, ADAS capabilities, electronic power steering (EPS), knob type gear selector and LCD instrument cluster, high-efficiency energy saving air conditioning and a spacious cabin.

Meanwhile, the Aumark S Euro 4 is offered in four- and six-wheel configurations.

Prices for the Aumark S BJ1065 Euro 4 4-Wheeler start from RM98,400 while the Aumark S BJ1088 Euro 4 6-Wheeler retails at a competitive price starting from RM115,300.

The Aumark S Euro 4 4-wheeler can be configured with a wheelbase of 2,800mm or 3,360mm and powered by the Cummins ISF 2.8-litre engine coupled with a five-speed manual transmission by ZF.

The Aumark S BJ 1088 Euro 4 6-wheeler features a larger 3.8-litre engine and a six-speed ZF gearbox.

Both powertrains have been updated to meet Euro 4 and B20 biodiesel compatibility for improved operational efficiency and all Aumark S trucks are backed by an industry-leading six-year/300,000km warranty.

The JMC Vigus Pro White Series 4x2 is priced from RM89,999 in Peninsular Malaysia, and RM91,999 in East Malaysia and is covered by a three-year/100,000km warranty.

The pick-up truck is powered by the Ford-developed 2.0-litre Puma four-cylinder turbodiesel engine mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission featuring an electronic gear selector and paddle shifters.

It comes with modern amenities such as an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system and rain-sensing wipers while equipped with a truck bed that can carry up to 950kg of cargo.

Tan Keng Meng, the chief executive officer of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, the holding company of ATM, said the product mix offered reflected the company's desire to empower businesses across the industrial spectrum, from start-ups and SMEs to full-fledged multi-national corporations, amidst rapid globalisation and e-commerce development.
