LONDON: The launch of the electric Apex AP-0 hypercar here today would be accompanied by a YouTube world premiere as the world wrestles with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The YouTube premiere starts at 16:00 GMT (midnight Saturday in Malaysia).

Designed, engineered and built in Britain, the AP-0 is the product of a team led by chief designer Guy Colborne.

Featuring a pure carbon fibre chassis, the AP-0 boasts a kerb weight of 1,200kg. The lightweight design allows for rapid acceleration, superior agility, outstanding handling and exceptional cornering ability, said Apex in a statement. It did not reveal performance figures for the car that is expected to be made mainly for track use.

Apex launched the AP-1, its first car, last year. The AP-1 can sprint from 0-100kph in under 3s and is able to hit a top speed of 280kph.

Founded in 2018 by brothers Jason and Gary Leung of Hong Kong, Apex Motors touts itself as a global sportscar brand based out of Britain.

At the time of this posting, the Covid-19 infection has hit over 128,343 people globally, with 68,324 recovered and 4,720 deaths. Britain has 459 cases with 18 recovered and eight deaths.
