Aston Martin Valhalla nears production after final validation tests

LONDON: Aston Martin has released official on-road imagery of Valhalla on Monday, showing the new model undergoing final validation sign-off both on-road in the UK and on-track near Barcelona, before the start of production in Q2 2025.

The Valhalla is currently undergoing dynamic calibration and validation across multiple test sites, focusing on key performance areas such as steering, active aerodynamics, braking systems, and damper settings.

The testing programme involves Aston Martin engineers and development driver Darren Turner, a three-time Le Mans class winner.

High-speed and handling circuits at Spain's IDIADA are being used to fine-tune the vehicle’s on-track capabilities, while UK road tests are completing the final stages of damper calibration.

The Valhalla marks several firsts for the marque. It is Aston Martin's first series production mid-engined supercar, its first plug-in hybrid, and the first model with an electric-only driving capability.

The car features a bespoke 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 engine, producing 1,079PS and 1,100Nm through a hybrid powertrain.

It is also the first Aston Martin equipped with the newly developed 8-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT), integrating an e-motor and electronic rear differential (E-diff). In addition, a twin-motor front axle enables all-wheel drive and torque vectoring.

Aston Martin's director of vehicle performance and attributes Simon Newton said the engineering challenges and opportunities presented by the Valhalla’s advanced systems have been immense.

He said the integration of active aerodynamics and control systems has been key to managing the extreme performance of the hybrid powertrain, delivering versatility for both road and track use.

Valhalla also benefits from technologies derived from Aston Martin Performance Technologies and the marque's Formula 1 involvement, contributing to its dynamic capabilities.

Production would be limited to 999 units globally.
