Audi A6 Avant to premiere tomorrow

INGOLSTADT: The Audi A6 Avant will celebrate its world premiere on March 4.

Almost five decades after the debut of the Audi 100 Avant, the new generation of the A6 will be launched, representing first-class travel in the premium full-size segment.

A recent Carscoops article said leaked videos circulating online suggest the new A6 will bear a striking resemblance to the smaller A5.

Carscoops pointed out that the teaser hints at a sleek wagon silhouette and introduces a new lighting signature, featuring a full-width LED strip at the rear.

Meanwhile, a recent roadandtrack article said this latest variant will ride on the brand’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) platform, which first debuted with last year’s B10-generation Audi A5.

The roadandtrack article noted that the platform features the advanced electronics architecture from VW Group's new EVs, and supports both front- and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The platform currently utilizes a pair of diesel and gas 2.0-liter four cylinders, as well as a turbocharged V-6 in the new S5.

"A seven-speed dual-clutch is the sole transmission behind those units. Expect a similar powertrain layout when the A6 Avant arrives," said the roadandtrack article.

According to a recent motorauthority article, the arrival of the next-generation A6 continues Audi’s ongoing model offensive, which includes not only the new A5, but also the A6 E-Tron and Q6 E-Tron EVs, along with upcoming versions of the Q5 and Q5 Sportback.

"Additionally, a new Q3 is set to debut later this year," said the motorauthority article.
