BEIJING: At Auto China 2026, Geely Auto unveiled its “Galaxy Light” second generation concept model and its first dedicated off-road new energy vehicle architecture.
Geely’s recently debuted i-HEV intelligent hybrid system was also prominently highlighted.
"Galaxy Light" second generation concept car
Making its global debut, the "Galaxy Light" second generation concept advances the brand’s "Ripple Aesthetics" design philosophy.
The "Galaxy Starfall Grille" evolves from the gentle ripples of light into the surging, powerful momentum of a "starfall."
The "Flying Eaves" headlights house an integrated "Crystal Blade" beam lighting system.
Through interplay of crystal materials and high-tech textures, they reveal flagship-class grandeur.
The "Dawning Sun" taillights capture the poetic imagery of a sunrise while infusing it with a starry-sky ambience.
The vehicle's interior draws inspiration from the morning light over Hangzhou’s West Lake.
In addition, unique design elements—such as the "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon" audio system, "Chinese Chair" seating, the "Rippling Collection" centre console, and auspicious "Jiwen" patterns — infuse the cabin with the poetic imagery of traditional Chinese culture.

World-first native new energy off-road architecture
Empowered by Geely's AI ecosystem, it features capabilities such as AI-driven intelligent torque distribution, intelligent all-terrain modes, one-touch intelligent vehicle recovery, and AI-assisted active body posture adjustment.
The high-efficiency layout of the battery, motor and electronic control unit minimises intrusion into the cabin and maximises both passenger and cargo space.
Safety for off-road driving is ensured through features such as a recessed battery design and a six-layer protective structure at the battery's base.
A 50:50 front-to-rear axle load distribution ensures balanced traction across all four wheels, resulting in sharper and more predictable handling.
Furthermore, a design that physically separates the fuel, electrical, and cooling systems eliminates fire hazards associated with intermingling fluids and high-voltage components.
Additionally, this architecture provides ample space to accommodate larger battery packs and fuel tanks.
In terms of off-road performance, vehicles developed on the architecture come with high-power P3 motor at the front and dual independent P4 in-wheel motors at the rear.
This configuration delivers a combined output exceeding 1,000hp and a 0–100kph acceleration time in the four-second range—performance comparable to luxury vehicles costing millions.
The three-motor system works in tandem with the vehicle's comprehensive sensing system to enable intelligent, AI-driven torque distribution to each wheel.
The rear differential lock can rapidly and intelligently engage the dual rear motors, allowing the vehicle to easily extricate itself from complex off-road situations.
Moreover, features such as an integrated body-on-frame chassis, double-wishbone suspension at both the front and rear, and a dedicated off-road thermal management system ensure superior off-road passability and excellent handling dynamics.

Geely i-HEV intelligent hybrid technology
Empowered by the "Full-Domain AI 2.0" ecosystem, the Geely i-HEV intelligent hybrid system is built upon the dedicated GEEA 3.0 intelligent electronic and electrical architecture.
It marks the debut application of the "Xingrui AI Cloud Power 2.0" large-scale model and fully incorporates the latest advancements in AI digital chassis technology.
Furthermore, thanks to the "Joule Project" energy-saving development system and other improvements, the engine achieves a thermal efficiency of 48.41%, ranking first globally among mass-produced engines and offering a fuel consumption rate 12% lower than the industry benchmark.
During real-world testing, the Emgrand i-HEV intelligent hybrid achieved a comprehensive fuel consumption of just 2.22 litres per 100km, setting a new Guinness World Record.
In terms of performance, the Geely i-HEV intelligent hybrid system delivers a motor power output of up to 230kW (313PS) — 1.72 times that of other benchmark hybrid systems.
It is capable of operating in pure electric mode at speeds up to 66kph, offering a more pronounced electric driving sensation, faster acceleration, lower NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) levels, and a smoother ride experience.
It incorporates patented power redundancy safety technology, the "Aegis" battery safety system, and other cutting-edge technologies to ensure vehicle safety.
The Geely i-HEV intelligent hybrid system underwent 15,000 hours of bench durability testing — equivalent to a vehicle mileage of 4.8 million kilometres — exceeding the global standards set by Japanese manufacturers by over 20%.
Simultaneously, the "NordThor" electric hybrid system — which shares its technical lineage with the Geely i-HEV—has already been deployed in over 1.15 million vehicles, accumulating a total mileage of nearly 25.4 billion kilometres; its reliability has been thoroughly validated by users worldwide.
