Battista hypercar grabs world records in acceleration and braking

DUBAI: Italian performance carmaker Automobili Pininfarina has ticked off a list of world records while putting its all-electric Battista hyper GT through its paces in Dubai and showing off what its makers say is the world's fastest accelerating road-legal car.

With 1,900hp at the wheels, the €2-million (RM9.4mil) car delivered blistering acceleration and sensational stopping power on the track at the Dubai Autodrome in the United Arab Emirates.

With 0-100kph completed in 1.86 seconds and 0-200kph achieved in only 4.79 seconds, Battista said the car's launch control technology contributed to acceleration levels that surpass Formula 1 cars.

A car as fast as the Battista needs strong stopping power and official tests confirmed that Battista is the fastest braking EV in the world, completing 100-0 kph in just 31 metres.

Deliveries of the handcrafted hypercar built in Cambiano, Italy began earlier this year with initial cars bound for the Middle East.

Only 150 will be made at a starting price of €2.2 million (RM10.3mil).
