BATU PAHAT: A factory worker has landed himself in hot water with the law after his attempt to show off his drifting driving skills caused an accident, here.

Acting Batu Pahat OCPD Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said police spotted a viral video on Facebook, which recorded a dangerous car stunt at around noon today.

"The driver made several stunts including drifting in a modified sports car but he failed to control his vehicle and crashed into a parked four-wheel-drive vehicle.

"Investigation found that the incident occurred at around 12.15am on Tuesday along Jalan Desa Botani 1 in Taman Desa Botani, which is a public area here," he said here today.

Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat said that police were able to track down and identify the driver and the vehicle involved in the incident.

He said the suspect in his 20s had been arrested for driving dangerously, where further checks found he tested negative for drugs while the car had been seized.

Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat added the suspect was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act and would be brought to Batu Pahat magistrate court tomorrow for remand.

"Motorheads, or car enthusiasts, that like to test their car engine and driving skills should not do it on public roads as it poses a risk to other road users.

"If they want to do it, then find a suitable race track,” he said, adding that the police would crack down on anyone breaking the law.
