Bentley to unveil all-electric vehicle, expands sustainability at Crewe
By CARSIFU | 01 November 2024LONDON: Bentley will soon share details on its first fully electric vehicle as part of an update on its Beyond100 business strategy, initially announced in 2020.
New chairman and CEO Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser and the Bentley board will hold an online briefing on Nov 7, marking Walliser’s first public address since his appointment.
The company has earmarked £2.5 billion (RM14bil) over the next decade to transform its Crewe facility into a sustainable “Dream Factory.”
This investment includes an increase in on-site solar panels from 30,000 to 40,000 within two years and a shift towards advanced, low-environmental-impact manufacturing.
Bentley’s original Beyond100 strategy called for the release of its first battery-powered electric vehicle (BEV) in 2025 and to offer only fully electric vehicles by 2030. But both deadlines have been delayed by technical problems and the generally weak global demand for EVs.
New targets called for the first BEV to be ready in late 2026 and an all-electric lineup by 2033.
