KUALA LUMPUR: China's electric scooter maker Blueshark and EP Manufacturing Bhd have announced a partnership with several local industry players as part of its market introduction in Malaysia.

The impending launch of the scooters would also see the development of an electric ecosystem to ensure the venture is sustainable.

The other stakeholders are Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation.

With the Blueshark R1 smart electric scooter, riders will be able to experience the integrated ArkRide operating system that is proprietary to BlueShark, complemented by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery-swap technology to enable a seamless recharge while on-the-go.

Introduced with a leasing model, Blueshark aims to enable small and medium-size businesses and bigger companies to lower total running costs across the entire ecosystem.

The business model would lead to raising the standard of living for people in the lower income bracket by offering them green job opportunities.

Blueshark would kick off a pilot programme soon with delivery and infrastructure partners to demonstrate the feasibility of its first-to-last mile electrified platform and market-ready ecosystem in the Klang Valley.

Its first 3S centre is set to open in Glenmarie, Shah Alam..

Blueshark Ecosystem chief executive officer (Asean) Jeff Chong said the company's business proposition was unique.

“We will be making our products accessible to all, especially the B40 group and we will be putting a lot of focus on empowering this underserved group of people with subsidies, green jobs creation, green entrepreneurship programs and much more.”
