Blueshark R1 e-scooters to patrol Merdeka 118 tower


SHAH ALAM: Blueshark, a subsidiary of Sharkgulf Technologies Group, has reached a milestone by providing its R1 smart electric scooters to PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PNBMV).

This collaboration to promote sustainable urban mobility sees Blueshark equipping five divisions of PNBMV's mobile patrol units stationed at the Kuala Lumpur's Merdeka 118, the world's second tallest building.

In a ceremony held recently at the Merdeka 118 tower, Blueshark officially handed over 14 units of its flagship R1 smart electric scooters to PNBMV, initiating a three-year lease agreement.

This collaboration underscores Blueshark's dedication to providing innovative mobility solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of urban environments.

The deployment of Blueshark R1 smart electric scooters within Merdeka 118 tower's operational framework ensures that essential personnel, including those from the Car Park, Common Facilities, Base Facilities, Merdeka Utilities, and Polis Bantuan (Auxiliary Police).

Blueshark Ecosystem Group CEO (ASEAN) Jeff Chong said the company was thrilled to partner PNBMV to provide the R1 smart electric scooters to their various teams in such a landmark location.

"PNBMV and Blueshark both have shared values in sustainability and environmental responsibility.

"Blueshark’s first-to-last mile sustainable e-mobility ecosystem will enable PNBMV and its employees to reduce their carbon footprint and live healthier lives in the pursuit of their ESG goals," he said.

PNBMV chief executive officer Tengku Datuk Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud said the R1 e-scooter offers emission-free transportation and aligned with the company's goal of climate neutrality.

"Blueshark's Vehicle & Backend Telematics will also provide valuable data for PNBMV's carbon reporting, helping us meet our green mobility goals.

"Our teams are responsible for the safety and well-being of all our employees as well as visitors from all over the world to Merdeka 118. Integrating e-mobility with Blueshark’s R1 e-motorcycles and connected ecosystem will help PNBMV’s various teams perform their duties more efficiently and sustainably," he said.

The R1 smart electric scooters are suitable for fleet operations, urban commuting and patrol because they can recharge from any normal wall socket and have access to Malaysia's first battery swap infrastructure.

Blueshark's Internet of Vehicles (IoV) app-to-bike connectivity enables data to stream continuously between its vehicles and backend servers, enabling fleet customers to effortlessly and instantly monitor and track their vehicles in real time, as well as vital data like performance metrics, ride history, vehicle condition and battery health.
