BMW gives its iX3 electric SUV a facelift

MUNICH: Before BMW launches two more electric models - the i4 and iX - the German carmaker is taking time to focus on the iX3, giving the SUV a brand-new face and outfitting it with updated equipment.

One thing that's not changing is the electric drive. Not to mention the price - anyone who wants to wait until autumn to drive the new model off the lot will have to pay at least €67,300, only €1,000 more than at market launch a year ago.

According to the manufacturer, the updated version will be recognisable on the street thanks to a significantly larger BMW kidney at the front, as well as flatter headlines and 3-D-designed LED rear lights. Inside, however, a larger infotainment screen and newly arranged centre console will be the only noticeable changes.

Under the bonnet, the iX3 still features 286hp for the rear wheels and a 80 kWh-battery pack that BMW says can provide up to 460km of range. The iX3 can rev from standstill to 100kph in 6.4 seconds, according to the manufacturer.

The car will electronically hit the brakes at speeds of 180kph.
