MUNICH: BMW M GmbH has reported record-breaking results for the year 2023, with over 200,000 high-performance and performance cars delivered worldwide, marking a 14.3 percent increase from the previous year. This achievement, a historic milestone for the company, demonstrates the growing appeal of extremely sporty vehicles adorned with the iconic M logo.

The United States retained its position as the most significant single market for BMW M GmbH vehicles, while Germany ranked second, and the UK remained the third most important market.

Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President Customer, Brand, Sales at BMW M GmbH, credited the major milestone to the diverse product portfolio's resonance with customers.

The i4 M50 continued its success as BMW M GmbH's bestseller and marked the brand's first all-electric performance model. The year 2023 also witnessed the launch of the i5 M60 xDrive Sedan and the i7 M70 xDrive, expanding the range of all-electric performance vehicles.

The i5 M60 xDrive sets new standards in the premium business saloon class with a powerful integrated drive unit on both axles, offering up to 442 kW/601 hp.

The i7 M70 xDrive, on the other hand, is the most powerful all-electric M automobile, boasting a system output of up to 485 kW/659 hp and a maximum torque of 1,015 Nm.

BMW chief executive Franciscus van Meel highlighted the success of the i4 M50 as evidence of the company's commitment to electrification and blending sustainable drive technologies with emotional driving experiences.

The product portfolio diversification in 2023 included three high-performance models: the M2, the XM, and the M3 CS. These models contributed significantly to BMW M GmbH's sales growth.

The M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupé remained the world's best-selling high-performance sports cars in 2023.

Looking ahead to 2024, BMW M GmbH plans to continue expanding its product range. This includes a model revision for the M3, M4, and M2 series, as well as the return of the M5, which will be available as a sedan and a touring model. A new offering for ambitious drivers is the M4 CS, with increased engine power and optimised weight.

Additionally, BMW M GmbH will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2024, marking its return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 25 years after its previous victory.
The event will feature a prototype from BMW M Motorsport, accompanied by the 20th BMW Art Car, designed by renowned artist Julie Mehretu, emphasizing the fusion of motorsport and art.
