KUALA LUMPUR: Two new motorcycles will soon make the scene with the entry of BMW Motorrad’s F 700 GS for the enduro rider and the F 800 R roadster with touring and all-round capabilities.

Both bikes, assembled at the BMW Motorrad Plant in Rayong,Thailand, are due to make its appearance at the upcoming BMW Motorrad on Tour Pop Up Store at this weekend’s Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP Malaysia) from Oct 23 to 25.

Retail price on the road without insurance, the F 700 GS costs the most at RM56,900, while the F 800 R is priced at RM49,900 and the F 800 Sport at RM53,500.

A six-speed gearbox manages the 798cc liquid-cooled four-valve two-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection that produces 75hp and 77Nm of torque for the 700 and 87hp and 86Nm of toque for the 800.

Standard fitment for all variants will include ABS, new LED turn signals and a new BMW Motorrad onboard cockpit computer,

The new 700 has a saddle height of 790mm that’s 10mm higher than the 800 at 780mm.

As for bike colour options, the 700 can be had in three colours of Alpine White, Blackstorm, and Racing Blue; while the 800 gets two colours of Racing Blue Metallic and Light White.

The 800 Sport variant gets a black engine spoiler and is also fitted with additional safety equipment such as LED rear lights to maximise its visibility, automatic stability control, electronic suspension adjustment and tyre pressure control system.

“The new motorcycles will be key in introducing the BMW Motorrad brand to new customer groups as the motorcycles have the right sized engines and the newest technology for new and novice riders,” BMW Group Malaysia managing director and CEO Alan Harris.
