BMW's Hungary plant rolls out test vehicles for Neue Klasse EV production
By CARSIFU | 22 November 2024MUNICH: BMW's plant in Debrecen, Hungary, has begun producing near-series test vehicles for its fully-electric Neue Klasse models, marking a critical milestone ahead of series production scheduled for late 2025.
This phase aims to validate and optimise production and logistics processes under real-world conditions.
The test vehicle production process mirrors the complexity of full-scale operations.
Parts and materials are delivered daily to the facility, where every aspect of production undergoes rigorous scrutiny. Key focus areas include validating advanced manufacturing systems and refining their digital integration.
Over the coming months, BMW will fine-tune these processes based on insights from system tests. This includes optimising logistics workflows and testing cutting-edge tools to ensure seamless operations.
At the same time, the plant is intensively training new staff on equipment and machinery, fostering cross-departmental collaboration to ensure a smooth transition to series production.
The Debrecen plant is designed specifically for electric vehicle production.
