Bolt opens app to licensed taxis in Klang Valley

KUALA LUMPUR: Licensed taxis in Klang Valley can now onboard and operate on the Bolt app.

The initiative enables licensed taxi drivers in Klang Valley to register and accept trips through the Bolt platform, integrating traditional taxi services directly into Bolt’s existing ride-hailing category.

With 15,000 registered taxis operating in Klang Valley, the move increases the overall supply of vehicles available on the platform.

A stronger supply of drivers helps reduce average pickup times and reduce price spikes during periods of high demand.

Passengers can request a ride through the Bolt app and be matched with a licensed taxi, benefiting from real-time trip tracking, upfront pricing transparency and cashless payment options.

Each ride is supported by Bolt’s integrated safety features designed to protect both drivers and passengers.

These include verified driver onboarding and identity checks, live trip tracking from start to finish, the ability to share trip details with trusted contacts, and an in-app emergency SOS button that provides quick access to support when needed.

Also, by equipping taxi partners with smart matching technology, real-time demand insights and integrated safety tools, Bolt is helping to better position drivers within an increasingly digital mobility landscape.

“Our priority is to create sustainable earning opportunities for drivers while continuously improving the experience for passengers,” said Bolt Malaysia general manager Afzan Lutfi.

“By welcoming licensed taxis onto the Bolt platform, we are strengthening Bolt’s overall driver base across Klang Valley. This allows us to reduce pickup times and moderate surge pricing during peak demand, while equipping taxi drivers with smarter technology to access consistent trip volume.”
