FRANKFURT: So the AMG factory tuning of the Mercedes SUV is still not enough for you?

Then you might want to take a look at what Brabus has done. The German tuning shop has managed to tease 800 horses out of the already potent GLE and GLS.

Although the 612hp of the Mercedes GLE 63 S AMG and GLS 63 AMG was already more than ample, Brabus has been able to squeeze 188hp more from the four-litre V8 engine, while maximum torque meanwhile climbs by 150 to 1,000Nm.

The two big off-roaders can also accelerate correspondingly faster and the GLE races from a standstill to 100kph in 3.4 seconds and the GLS in 3.8 seconds.

In both cases, however, the top speed is 280kph, as with AMG.

On average, the GLE consumes 11.5 litres (262 g/km CO2) according to the standard. Brabus quotes 11.9 litres and 273 g/km for the GLS.

The price for the tuning starts at €26,061 (RM131,000) in Germany.

In addition, carbon add-on parts and a newly tuned suspension with wheels of up to 24 inches can be ordered. There's also a new leather interior, a flap exhaust and carbon fibre parts for the interior.

For €299,000 (RM1.5mil), the manufacturer offers complete vehicles as Brabus 800 for the GLE S 63 AMG and €308,968 (RM1.6mil)for the GLS 63 AMG.
