British company Lunaz is electrifying old Rolls-Royces

LONDON: A British outfit has started production of the world’s only electric Rolls-Royce cars.

The Rolls-Royce marque joins existing electrified classic cars from Jaguar and Bentley in the Lunaz portfolio.

A 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom V has now completed the Lunaz re-engineering process. This includes ground-up restoration and the incorporation of Lunaz’s proprietary electric powertrain and a full suite of hardware and software upgrades.

Lunaz said it is making only 30 electrified Rolls-Royce Phantoms and Silver Clouds in the first production batch. The company claimed its customer base included "celebrated and influential institutions in the world".

Lunaz hit on the idea of electrifying classic cars following rising demand for such conversions.

The electric Rolls-Royces are available for the global market.

Prices for an electric Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud starts at £350,000 or RM1.9mil (not including local taxes). Pricing for an electric Phantom starts at £500,000 (RM2.7mil).
