Brunei is 1st export market for new Proton Saga

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The new Proton Saga recently saw its first international introduction in Brunei Darussalam.

Also, the Saga is Brunei’s second Proton model launch in 2026 after the X50 was introduced on 15 January.

“The launch of the new Saga in Brunei is a definitive statement of Proton’s intent to grow its export volume by increasing its presence in the entry-level segment in regional markets," said Proton International Corp Sdn Bhd (PICSB) CEO Edmund Lim Meng Thong.

"By leveraging on our own proprietary technology such as the AMA platform, we aim to secure a larger share of the Asean market while solidifying our export-led growth strategy to align with our long-term goals,” he added.

For the Brunei market, the new Saga is offered in the following variants and pricing:

  • Executive: B$16,800 (RM51,929) and Premium: B$18,800 (RM58,111)
  • Early-Bird Offer: B$500 (RM1,545) discount for the first 100 customers
  • Service Package: Five years or 150,000km vehicle warranty plus three times free labour service

As the first export model built on Proton’s Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA), the new Saga benefits from further refinements in structural performance, safety and connectivity, delivering a stronger value proposition in its class, including the availability of six airbags and a 12-inch infotainment head unit.

Supported by developments in the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV), Proton is working towards building the high-technology manufacturing and supply chain foundation needed to position its Tanjong Malim base as the region’s premier right-hand-drive automotive hub for next-generation vehicle development.

In Malaysia, more than 20,000 units of the new Saga have been registered since launch.
