Bufori CS8 launched at RM2.2mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Bufori Motor Car Company, the builder of bespoke cars located in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, has launched its latest offering - the high-powered CS8.

This ultra high-performance grand tourer (GT) is said to have been created with the finest components and materials available and for those who demand exceptional quality, exhilarating performance, enduring comfort and the highest level of personalisation.

Priced on-the-road without insurance at RM2,188,888, the CS8 weighs in at 1,550kg (kerb).

The CS8's body panels can be coated in solid or metallic colours while its exposed stainless-steel gets a hand-polished brightwork finish.

As an optional extra, custom ad special-effect body colours are also available, as well as the option to have exposed carbon fibre within the cabin and a black anodised brightwork finish for the stainless-steel.

With a 252-litre rear boot, it has a 2,609mm wheelbase, while dimensionally being 4,568mm in length, 2,030mm in width, and 1,292mm in height.

The CS8's stainless-steel monocoque chassis is generally hidden by carbon-Kevlar exterior panels.

Under the long front hood lies five engine choices, which start with a 3.6-litre (3,604cc) naturally-aspirated V6 engine that pushes out 320bhp at 6,000rpm and 352Nm of torque at 4,800rpm.

A supercharged version of this engine increases the twist to 455bhp at 6,100rpm and 495Nm at 4,850rpm.

Stepping up to a 3.0-litre (2,993cc) twin-turbo inline-six engine means owners now have 550bhp at 5,700rpm and 677Nm at 3,500rpm at their disposal.

If that isn't enough, a 6.4-litre (6,417cc) naturally-aspirated V8 Hemi engine is available, and it'll punch out 457bhp at 6,000rpm and 640Nm at 4,200rpm.

The supercharged version increases output to 810bhp (or 750hp at the rear wheels) at 6,000rpm and 973Nm at 4,800rpm, which means launching from 0 to 100kph takes just 3.0 seconds before reaching a top speed of 330kph.

Furthermore, the V8 engine comes with Cylinder Deactivation, an Interactive deceleration fuel shut-off (iDFSO) system, K&N high-performance serviceable air filter, and a Quad Active High Performance Exhaust system (dual for V6 powertrains).

All engines drink from a 100-litre fuel tank, and regardless of choice, the price remains the same.

The engines are managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission (with paddle-shifters) that uses a billet stator for its torque converter.

The billet stator makes it more effective in transmitting power to the limited-slip differential before reaching the rear wheels.

For stopping power, it uses front 380mm and rear 350mm discs that get abused by six-piston (front) and four-piston (rear) Brembo callipers.

All that gets partially hidden by the 19-inch forged alloy wheels that wear staggered front 275/35 and rear 315/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (PS4S) tyres.

However, going with the V6 engine line-up will have the rear wheel and tyre combination downsized to 275/35 that fit narrower 9.5-inch wheels (as opposed to 10.5-inch width wheels). Meanwhile, the inline-six powerplant begets 295/30 PS4s tyres.

Hidden behind the wheels and braking system is an Independent Short-Long Arm (SLA) front suspension with upper "A" arm and adjustable coil-over shock absorbers.

For the rear, it uses a five-link independent suspension with adjustable coil-over shock absorbers.

For added rigidity, there are front and rear anti-roll bars and an anti-dive and anti-squat suspension geometry system.

Externally, the CS8 uses LEDs for its automatic and adaptive headlights, daytime runners, front and rear fogs,

Inside, standard cabin equipment includes launch control, paddle shifters, audio controls, EVIC, cruise controls, dual-zone climate controls, electric parking brake, one-touch power windows, mood lighting, and a wireless charger.

While the interior panels and seats are upholstered in a combination of leather and microfibre, the driver gets eight-way powered adjustability with four-way lumbar support and four-way for the passenger.

Behind the wheel, the CS8 uses an electric power rack and pinion steering system with a close ratio system and memory function and its heft gets altered via three driving modes of Street, Sport and Track.

Adding to the convenience factor are keyless-entry with push-start function, remote engine start, tool kit from Snap-On (located in the boot), a tyre repair kit and a first aid kit.

A 6.1 surround-sound system is powered by a 13.6-inch LCD touchscreen that comes with Apple Carplay, Android Auto, built-in WiFi / Hot Spot, radio and Bluetooth connectivity.

For safety, the CS8 comes equipped with two airbags, a four-wheel anti-lock braking system, brake assist, rain-ready braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability control, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, speed sensitive automatic locking mechanism, anti-pinch power windows.

To further bolster safety, it comes included with cruise control, as well as Electronic Vehicle Information Centre (EVIC), and an ambient temperature gauge as standard.

Adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree bird's-eye view camera system, blind-spot monitoring system, lane assist, and lane departure warning system are optional extras.

“The CS8 represents the pinnacle of Bufori’s design and engineering capabilities,” said Bufori Motor Car Company founder and managing director Gerry Khouri.

“The CS8 is predictable, forgiving, and durable. A Grand Tourer you can trust to inspire confidence, whether you are crossing a continent or tackling a mountain pass,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bufori general manager Felix Haller added that the CS8 has been designed for the driver in mind.

"With the CS8, we are introducing an Ultra High Performance Grand Tourer that is every bit as exclusive as it is exhilarating,” concluded Haller.
