KUALA LUMPUR: The refreshed BYD Atto 3 has arrived in Malaysia with a bigger change than the usual facelift treatment, led by a new rear-wheel-drive Premium variant packing a 230kW (313PS) motor.
The Atto 3 Premium is priced at RM138,800, while the updated Atto 3 Ultra now serves as the entry variant at RM125,800 (all prices nett).
That makes the Ultra RM2,000 dearer than before, following the return of import and excise duties on fully imported electric vehicles this year.
The Atto 3 facelift made its Malaysian debut at the three-day Sime Motors MotorExpo, which starts today at The Arch Galeries Kuala Lumpur.

The new Premium cuts the 0-100kph sprint to 5.5 seconds.
That is a major jump over the front-wheel-drive Ultra, which uses a 150 kW (204 PS) motor and does the same run in 7.3 seconds.
The higher-output model gets a 74.88kWh Blade battery, giving it a claimed range of 600km NEDC (510km, WLTP).
It also moves to an 800V electrical architecture, enabling DC fast charging at up to 220kW, while AC charging is rated at 11kW.

The Ultra continues with a 60.48kWh Blade battery, front-wheel drive and 310Nm of torque. Its claimed range is 480km NEDC (420km, WLTP), with DC fast charging at up to 110kW.
This is not just a cosmetic update.
The Malaysian Atto 3 facelift now moves closer to the Atto 3 Evo RWD already detailed for Europe, with rear-wheel drive, stronger output, a larger battery and much faster DC charging on the Premium variant.
Design changes include new front and rear bumpers, redesigned rear lights, a revised spoiler with split brake lights, and the removal of the old scale-pattern trim around the rear quarter area.
Inside, the cabin gets a redesigned dashboard, a new steering wheel, a cleaner centre console and a column-style drive selector.

The digital instrument display grows to 8.8 inches, while the 15.6-inch centre touchscreen remains. The screen is no longer rotatable.
Premium extras include a 101-litre front boot, enhanced advanced driver assistance systems, seven airbags, front far-side centre airbag and a driver’s seat with four-way lumbar adjustment.
BYD Sime Motors is also offering a launch package worth up to RM14,000.
This includes a RM10,000 early-bird overtrade for the first 500 customers, plus a choice of a wallbox with standard installation or a six-year standard service package.
Warranty coverage stands at six years or 150,000km for the vehicle, and eight years or 160,000km for the battery and drive unit.
