BYD Atto 3 hits 500,000-unit production milestone

SHENZHEN: BYD has rolled off the 500,000th Atto 3 battery electric vehicle (BEV) at its Hefei industrial plant, just 19 months after its launch.

As the group's first model for the global market, the BYD Atto 3 has quickly become the best-selling NEV (new energy vehicle) in multiple countries, including Singapore, New Zealand, Thailand, Israel, and Sweden.

In Malaysia, the Atto 3 is available in two variants: Standard Range at RM149,800 and Extended Range at RM167,800.

The Standard Range gets a 49.92 kWh battery, while the Extended Range model comes with a 60.48 kWh. Range is 410km (NEDC) and 480km respectively.

Both are front-wheel drive vehicles with an electric motor mounted in front, which produces 201hp/204PS and 310Nm of torque, good for a 0-100kph spint in 7.3s.

Notably, the Atto 3 is Thailand’s best-selling pure electric vehicle as of August 2023.

Founded in 1995 as a battery manufacturer, BYD had ceased production of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in 2022 to focus solely on BEVs and PHEVs (plug in hybrids), resulting in 1.86 million new energy passenger vehicle sales and becoming the world's top-selling automaker in NEVs.
