BYD Malaysia launches the all-electric Seal 6 from RM100,000


PETALING JAYA: BYD Malaysia's Seal 6 sets a new price benchmark where C-segment electric sedans are concerned.

Available in two variants, the electric vehicle (EV) comes in at a starting price of RM100,000 for the Dynamic option while the Premium is at RM115,800.

Both share the same 56.64kWh BYD Blade Battery and a 485km (NEDC) drive range though differ in their performance output.


The Dynamic's permanent magnet synchronous motor has been tuned to deliver a maximum power of 95kW with 220Nm of maximum torque and a 0-100kph acceleration of 10.9s.

On the other hand the Premium variant has a 160kW maximum power with 330Nm of maximum torque and a 7.5s century sprint.

A key highlight of the rear-wheel drive (RWD) Seal 6 is that it is BYD’s first model with an all-new advanced suspension system that consists of a dual ball-joint MacPherson Strut with rear multi-link.

The Dynamic runs on 17-inch tyres while the Premium on has them at 18 inches. The sedan has a 5.5m turning radius and a ground clearance of 165mm.





Another major characteristic of the model is that it boasts to be one of the largest C-segment sedan in Malaysia. 

It has a 2,820mm wheelbase and is 4,720mm in length, 1,495mm tall and is 1,860mm wide. This is accompanied by 24 smart storage compartments and 525 litres of combined cargo capacity - 460 litres at the rear and 65 litres in the frunk.

Standard inside the Seal 6 is an 8.8-inch digital instrument display and a DiLink 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity.



Only the Premium variant has access to eight sound speakers (as oppose to six in the Dynamic), wireless phone charger, glasses storage box, panoramic sunroof with electric slide and anti-trap, and power adjustable front ventilated seats (eight-way for the driver and four-way for the passenger side).

LED rear light. front door LED light, driver and passenger footwell light, and multi-colour gradient ambient lighting are also only available to the Premium model.

Standard safety and security features come in the following: 360-degree view monitor, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), two front radars, auto hold function, Electric Parking Brake System (EPB), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Intelligent Brake Force Distribution, Hill-start assist Control, Brake Override System (BOS), Stop & Go Full Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC-S&G), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Intelligent High Beam Control, seat belt reminder, and six airbags.

Both variants are available in three exterior colours (Arctic White, Harbour Grey, Misty Blue) while the interior is a mixture of black and grey.



Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter and Type 2 charging cable with 3 pin-plug come as standard complimentary accessories.

Depending on the selected variant, the first 800 customers of the Seal 6 will be entitled to a variety of launch package choice.

Premium variant customers have two options to choose from. The first is an exclusive launch package for landed property residents worth up to RM6,288. This includes a free wall charger worth RM3,288 and an exclusive launch rebate of RM3,000.



The second option tailored for high-rise property residents encompasses a Sime Platinum 4+ by Power Up package worth RM5,000 and an exclusive launch rebate of RM1,000.

The former is a 12-month doorstep charging programme package (for selected areas only) that consists of four times mobile doorstep charging; two times for car handwash, vacuum and tyre shine per month; and two free EV rescue charging services per year.

Inclusive as part of the Seal 6's price is six years or 150,000km vehicle warranty, a drive unit warranty of eight years or 160,000km, and a high-voltage Blade Battery warranty of eight years or 160,000km.

BYD Malaysia managing director Eagle Zhao added that they wanted to show that an electric car can be both advanced and accessible at the same time.

"This model (Seal 6) combines a competitive price point with long range and smart technology features, making it an attractive choice for daily driving.

"I believe that this balance of value and innovation will help more customers take the step into electric mobility more readily,” said Zhao.
