BYD Mansion Macalister opens with a heritage twist

PENANG: Sime Darby Beyond Auto, the authorised retail partner for BYD under Sime Motors, has unveiled BYD Mansion Macalister, a distinctive new electric mobility destination in Penang.

The new outlet is a restored century-old heritage building on the historic Jalan Macalister here.

The restoration preserves and honours the building’s distinctive architectural character while introducing a contemporary retail environment designed around the future of electric mobility.

Set on a 26,994sq ft parcel of land with approximately 9,000sq ft of built-up space, the property has been reimagined as a boutique automotive destination rather than a conventional dealership.

BYD Mansion Macalister features four curated display vehicles presented like art pieces within a gallery-like setting.

Also included are lounge-style consultation areas and a private delivery room designed for personalised vehicle handovers.

BYD Mansion Macalister also serves as a fully integrated ownership destination with five work bays, one alignment bay and three service reception bays, providing customers with convenient access to after-sales care all within one compound.

The mansion also features an urban charging hub equipped with one 60kW DC fast charger and seven AC chargers.

Sime Motors managing director Andrew Basham said BYD Mansion Macalister represents an important milestone in how the company continues to evolve the automotive retail experience.

"Transforming a historic property into a modern electric mobility destination, we are not only preserving an important part of Penang’s architectural heritage, but also creating a meaningful space where customers can experience the future of mobility," he said.

BYD Malaysia deputy general manager Jacob Ma said the mansion reflects the company's commitment to growing the BYD brand closer in ways closer to the local communities.
