JAKARTA: China's BYD, the world's biggest seller of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), will launch its cars in Indonesia next week, the company said today.
The launch comes amid efforts from Indonesia to accelerate adoption of EVs in a bid to reduce emissions.
BYD outpaced Tesla, selling over 3 million cars globally in 2023, 62% more than 2022, of which 1.57 million were pure electric vehicles (EV).
Tesla said it delivered 1.81 million EVs in the same period, an increase of 38% from a year ago.
