BEIJING: China's electric vehicle giant BYD said it will launch a new generation of Blade batteries in 2025 that will offer longer range and performance, Chinese state media CGTN reported on Saturday.
BYD's Blade Battery is a less bulky lithium-iron-phosphate battery that its chairman Wang Chuanfu has said is safer than other alternatives in the market and will not catch fire.
The first Blade battery was introduced in 2020, helping to catapult BYD into one of the world’s largest EV and battery makers today.
It is now in second place behind CATL, with a 16.4% market share at present.
