PETALING JAYA: China's Zeekr has appointed Carro as its latest authorised dealer in Malaysia.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two companies at Carro's flagship store in Puchong, Selangor, today.
Carro, touted as Asia Pacific's largest online automotive marketplace, together with Zeekr will now look to set up up four new Zeekr showrooms and three Carro Care workshops to support retail and maintenance efforts.
Meanwhile, Zeekr will look to leverage on Carro's ecosystem that will provide financing, insurance, body and paint, as well as maintenance services for new Zeekr owners.
This marks Carro's second market expansion into selling brand-new cars.
Earlier in March, Carro in Singapore started selling parallel-imported cars, which are supported by in-house warranties and aftersales services by Carro Care, as well as in-house financing by Genie Financial Services.
Currently, the MoU allows Zeekr vehicles to be purchased on their website.
"Our partnership with Carro represents a significant milestone in that direction - enhancing both our sales network and after-sales capabilities to better support our customers," said Zeekr Southeast Asia managing director Alex Bao.
Bao added that the collaboration also aligns with the company's broader business strategy as they prepare for the next introduction on the new model - the Zeekr 7X.
"We're seeing a growing market in Malaysia for hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs), with developing infrastructure and tax exemptions in place, and we're ready to provide these services to Malaysians who are keen to make the switch to EVs," said Carro International Marketplace chief executive officer Fong Hon Sum.
Fong added their while they are excited to have Zeekr as their new partner, he is also confident that their (Carro's) expertise within the EV sector has them well-placed to handle inspections, repairs and maintenance.
Zeekr, a Geely electric sub-brand, entered Malaysia in December 2024 and debuted two models - the 009 multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and the X model sports utility vehicle (SUV).
The Zeekr 009 is available in three variants, starting with the entry-level seven-seater front-wheel driven Executive that's priced on-the-road without insurance at RM310,000 (for the first 500 bookings).
The second variant is the mid-range seven-seater all-wheel-driven Luxury that's similarly priced at RM349,800.
The final range-topper is the Ultra Luxury that's tagged at RM359,800.
As for the Zeekr X, it comes in two variants - the Premium at RM155,800 and the Flagship costing RM172,800.
