CarSifu Auto Show 2022 JB: Heading into 2023 with new rides

Jonathan prefers the bigger X70 over the X50.

JOHOR BARU: Car buyers are looking forward to welcoming the new year with a new ride.

Sales and marketing director Daarmyn Danyesh is looking to get a Proton SUV X50 as he likes the sporty design, which suits his outgoing personality.

“Finally, it is going to be my own car as I’ve bought a car for my wife, father and mother,’’ he said.

The 25-year-old was among visitors to the CarSifu Auto Show 2022, taking place at The Mall, Mid Valley South Key here until tomorrow.

Daarmyn said he would be going on a test drive next week, adding that the company’s sales advisor had informed him there was ready stock for the grey Proton SUV X50.

Another visitor, telecommunications products sales executive Jonathan Tiong, expressed his strong interest in the Proton SUV X70.

The 32-year-old from Permas Jaya had dropped by the event with his mother, businesswoman Lynn Chua, 58, to view the Proton SUV.

“Nothing beats mother’s advice when it comes to buying a big-ticket item like a car,’’ said Tiong, who had wanted to get the X50 model but opted for the taller X70 model due to his height.

“It’s high time for me to change to a new car as I’ve been driving mine for 10 years now,’’ he said.

A visitor to the Volvo booth, Tan Jun Hao, 26, from Kota Tinggi, is planning to get a car just in time for his wedding ceremony in January.

Tan, who runs the family’s 16.18ha oil palm plantation in Ulu Tiram, hopes to use his new ride as the bridal car to his wife’s house in Pontian on their wedding day.

The five-day event, organised by Star Media Group, sees five car companies – Volvo, Toyota, Subaru, Proton and Honda – displaying their latest models. — ZAZALI MUSA
