KUALA LUMPUR: After months of testing the latest cars available on Malaysian roads, the winners of CarSifu Editors' Choice Awards 2022 will be announced tonight at M Resort Kuala Lumpur.
Some 50 vehicles have been shortlisted for the 28 categories which includes three main categories of Local Car of the Year, Asian Car of the Year and Continental Car of the Year.For 2022, there is also Special Recognition Award aside from the 28 categories.
For this edition, the awards are open for vehicles launched in Malaysia from Jan 1, 2021 to Sept 30, 2022.
Honouring outstanding cars for advancements and innovations in design, features and green technology, the cars are also appraised for features in safety, performance, comfort, fuel economy, handling, styling as well as their individual “wow” factor.
Cars from some 22 house brands such as BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Isuzu, Jaguar, Kia, Lexus, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Porsche, Proton, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo are in the running.
For this edition, the awards are open for vehicles launched in Malaysia from Jan 1, 2021 to Sept 30, 2022.
Shortlisted vehicle types are sedans, hatchbacks, multi-purpose vehicles (MPV), sports utility vehicles (SUV), sports cars and pick-up trucks.
The awards, organised by Star Media group, were not held in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.
Sponsors for the gala dinner are M Resort Kuala Lumpur and Carlsberg.
The nominees and winners of the Local Car of the Year, Asian Car of the Year, Continental Car of the Year and Special Recognition Award will be announced at the gala dinner.
