PETALING JAYA: Carsome Academy is collaborating with Sunway University to co-develop soft skills modules for the automotive, TVET training institution’s Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) programmes.
This first-of-its-kind collaboration between an automotive institution and Sunway University will culminate in an online curriculum to benefit Carsome Academy students pursuing SKM/Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses.
The curriculum comprises six soft skills modules which are Basic and Intermediate English, Basic Concepts of Information Technology Communication Skills, Principles of Management as well as Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills.
This soft skills curriculum was developed in line with the need to provide more holistic skill sets for automotive students. It focuses on enhancing personal attributes that will equip Carsome Academy graduates for more effective real-world interactions.
The curriculum will be delivered by Carsome Academy faculty both online and in face-to-face classes.
Carsome co-founder and Carsome Academy CEO Teoh Jiun Ee said equipping its students with both soft and technical skills would enhance their employability.
“Since our inception, we have always worked towards introducing new, innovative teaching approaches to ensure our students are industry-ready,” he said.
Sunway University president Prof Sibrandes Poppema said the collaboration with Carsome Academy to develop soft skills modules is part of a holistic education pathway to improve the careers of the academy graduates.
The Biasiswa TVET Selangor Untuk Pelajar Carsome Academy 2023 is offered to Malaysian youth aged between 18 to 40 years old who are born in Selangor and is also open to residents of the state who have lived here over the past five years.
The scholarship will be available for 30 deserving students accepted into Carsome Academy in 2023.
