The "China Heart" Top 10 Engines Award is billed as among the three authoritative engine awards in the world, including "Ward Top 10 Engines" and "International Engine of the Year".
To date, the "China Heart" Top 10 Engines Award has been held 16 times, and is said to be representative of China's top engine research and development (R&D) and manufacturing capability.
The 2021 edition saw a shortlist of 15 engines from 15 automobile companies.
They were mainly graded in terms of power index, technological advancement, market performance, energy saving and emission reduction, and on-site evaluation.
Since 2006, when the "China Heart" Top 10 Engine Awards was launched, nine Chery engines including the 1.6T GDI and 2.0T GDI powerplants have been selected.
The Chery 2.0T GDI engine adopts a second-generation "i-HEC" combustion system, a new-generation thermal management system, and a 350bar ultra-high-pressure direct injection system.
Featuring a maximum effective thermal efficiency of 41%, the 2.0T GDI engine will be found in the Tiggo 8 Pro sport utlity vehicle (SUV) which Chery plans to launch in more international markets including Malaysia.
In a press statement, the Chinese automaker also highlighted its "Chery 4.0 Full-field Power Architecture" which includes fuel, hybrid power, pure electric and hydrogen power technology.
