WUHU, China: China's Chery Group recorded another month of strong growth in July 2025, as sales reached 224,439 vehicles, up 14.7% year-on-year.
This included 65,357 new energy vehicles (NEVs) - a 44.1% annual increase.
Exports rose 31.9% to 119,090 units, and reinforced Chery’s position as China’s top automotive exporter.
In a statement, the group said, "This momentum reflects the success of Chery’s ‘Four Development Strategies’ regulatory compliance, product localisation, competitive enhancement, and market differentiation, which have driven robust growth in key international markets."
The markets include Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Malaysia, and Spain with sales in Brazil now exceeding 6,000 units per month, while Australia maintains about 3,000 units monthly.
From January to July this year, Chery posted a historic sales volume of 1,484,563 vehicles, a 14.5% year-on-year increase with exports reaching 669,360 units.
NEV sales also surged 87.7% year-on-year to 424,737 units, ranking among the fastest-growing in the global industry.
Chery’s worldwide customer base now exceeds 17.18 million, including over 5.17 million overseas owners.
Also, Chery achieved a historic ‘Double 500’ milestone in July, becoming the fastest-rising automaker on both the Fortune Global 500 and Fortune China 500 lists.
Chery now ranks 233rd globally (up from 385th in 2024) and 59th in China (up from 100th in 2024).
The company is also the first Chinese automotive brand to surpass 5 million cumulative vehicle exports worldwide.
Chery continues to roll out products and technologies tailored to the global demand, achieving breakthroughs in platform architecture, high-efficiency hybrid engines, electric drive systems, batteries, and intelligent interfaces including its self-developed Chery Super Hybrid (CSH).
A series of rigorous real-world tests were conducted across five countries.
The journey began in China with extreme trials including spiral rollovers, dual-vehicle collisions, and a dramatic seven-vehicle vertical stack.
It then moved to Indonesia for a 54-hour seawater CSH battery immersion and onward to Mexico for a demanding battery scrape test.
Next, the challenge heads to Brazil and South Africa, where it will conclude its year-long mission to push the limits of automotive safety.
