KLANG: The grand prize winner in Chery Malaysia's plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) Test Drive Lucky Draw contest is Joan Gan Cherl Wean from Klang.
She won a Chery Tiggo Cross hybrid electric vehicle (HEV).
Gan’s name was drawn from a pool of over 1,300 participants during a live winner announcement streamed on Chery Malaysia’s official social media platforms.
Gan, who has been a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro owner for over a year, said she joined the contest due to the encouragement of Chery Klang service centre's staff when she sent her vehicle in for a routine service visit.
She said she was in a meeting when she noticed her mobile phone kept on ringing, and sensed something wasn’t right.
“I had to excuse myself to answer the call, and to my surprise, it was a representative from Chery Klang, the outlet where I had test-driven a Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV,” she said.
Initially thinking it was a prank, Gan said the sales team subsequently sent her the video recording of the winner’s live draw session.
“This is my first time winning something from a lucky draw and it is the grand prize, this is a truly a great start for the New Year,” said the mother of two.
Gan added that her husband has been looking to change his car to an SUV and the Chery Tiggo Cross HEV came at the perfect time.
The contest was held from Dec 9, 2025 to Jan 6, 2026 to encourage the public to test-drive any Chery PHEV vehicle and snap a photo with the vehicle after their session to stand a chance of winning prizes worth up to RM200,000, including a new Chery Tiggo Cross HEV as the grand prize.
The contest also saw participants walk away with prizes including electrical appliances and electronic gadgets.
“We want customers to experience our PHEVs firsthand not just relying on reviews or recommendations by their friends. Once you have driven a Chery PHEV, you not only understand how it operates but also know the Chery Super Hybrid technology better,” said Chery Malaysia vice president Lee Wen Hsiang.
