KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia has contacted all customers of the 600 Omoda 5 sports utility vehicles which were suspected of possible rear suspension failure.
In a statement on the company's Facebook page, Chery Malaysia said all customers have scheduled their vehicles to undergo inspections at Chery-authorised service centres.
"More than 65% of these inspections have been completed," the company said.
The issue arose after a customer's Omoda 5 suffered a rear axle failure.
Chery Malaysia conducted an investigation and traced the matter to a vendor's welding machine which had a miscalibrated welding tip during a facility upgrade.
