Chery Malaysia donates RM50,000 to Putra Heights Mosque for gas fire relief efforts

SUBANG JAYA: Chery Corporate Malaysia followed up with its loan of cars to victims of the gas fire in Putra Heights here with a donation of RM50,000 to the Putra Heights Mosque to support its efforts as temporary evacuation centre.

The monetary aid would help the mosque which has been providing shelter to around 80 affected families.

Chery Corporate Malaysia’s management team led by its vice-president Cheng Nam Weng and executive vice-president Leo Chen handed over the donation to Putra Heights Mosque manager Abdul Hadi Hidzan.

The event at the mosque was also witnessed by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility Ng Sze Han.

Chery also handed over the first batch of 25 Chery vehicles for the one-month vehicle loan programme which the automotive company announced last Wednesday.

The remaining vehicles will be handed over early next week.

The loan programme would assist affected families with temporary transportation to help them regain stability and carry on with their daily tasks.

As part of Chery’s corporate social responsibility, Chery Corporate Malaysia also provided RM100 in fuel assistance to each vehicle recipient.

The programme was coordinated together with the offices of Selangor Menteri Besar, Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility, and the local authorities who are overseeing the relief efforts.
