KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn Bhd has begun exports to Brunei, which is its second Asean market.
The company said this marked a significant milestone in its strategy to grow its regional presence and establish Malaysia as its production and export hub for the region.
Officiating the first-batch export shipping ceremony, Chery Corporate Malaysia executive vice president Men Lin Bo explained, “The export market is a key pillar for our long-term growth strategy in the Asean region.”
Chery Corporate Malaysia vice president Cheng Nam Weng added, “Following the start of exports to Vietnam in February 2025, Brunei’s proximity and market potential make it a logical and important next step. This initial shipment of the Jaecoo J7 allows us to gauge market reception and lay a solid foundation in Brunei.”
The company aims to further expand into other Asean markets in the future.
The initial shipment to Brunei consists of Jaecoo J7 PHEVs (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) and petrol-powered Jaecoo J7 units (two-wheel drive variant).
All units for Brunei exports are manufactured at the Shah Alam plant and share identical specifications with the models offered in Malaysia.
