KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia's Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 models now come in plug-in-hybrid powertrain option.
Priced at RM129,800 and RM159,800 respectively, the two front-wheel drive (FWD) Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) are powered by the same newly launched Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology.
The Tiggo 7 PHEV's price also effectively positions it as the most affordable PHEV model in the present market.
The powertrain setup consists of a fifth generation ACTECO turbocharged direct Injection engine (TGDi) that has a 44.5% thermal efficiency for fuel savings and power, and a 18.3kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that offers up to 90km of pure electric driving.

These in combination with the two internal electric motors as part of its direct hybrid transmission (DHT) delivers a combined output of 275 PS and 365Nm of torque.
The battery charges from 30% to 80% in 19 minutes with DC fast charging (40 kW) while AC charging (6.6 kW) achieves the same range in 3 hours. A standard 3-pin charger takes about 8.5 hours for a full overnight charge.
Both models can achieve a driving range of up to 1,200km on a single 60-litre fuel tank and a full charge. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function has an external power discharge of 3.3 kW.
The platform itself consists of a Guardian Battery Safety System that is designed to protect drivers, passengers, and the vehicle under all conditions.

Said system has a power cutoff feature that immediately shuts down the high-voltage system in an incident to safeguard occupants.
The battery pack itself is IP68 dust and waterproof rated and is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures up to 95°C.
Further pushing its capabilities is an ultra-wide temperature operating range from -35°C to 60°C and a wading depth capability of 500mm.
In addition to the new powertrain, both models also feature a minor refresh in aesthetics and equipment.

Both models feature redesigned bumpers and a refreshed front grille - the Tiggo 7 PHEV sports a vertical diamond-embedded pattern while the Tiggo 8 PHEV highlights has a more refined, premium look.
Standard across the range are intelligent high-performance LED headlamps, HD DVR, double-glazed glass, functional roof rails, and 64-colour option ambient lighting.
Unique to the Tiggo 7 PHEV are LED fog lamps while the Tiggo 8 PHEV's rear comes with a one-piece LED taillight design.
Inside the Tiggo 7 PHEV is a 24.6-inch integrated dual-screen setup, while the Tiggo 8 PHEV comes with a standalone 15.6-inch infotainment display, dual-zone climate control and a Sony 10-speaker premium audio system.
Seats in the Tiggo 7 PHEV are ventilated sport leather with flexible storage solutions. The Tiggo 8 PHEV on the other hand comes with premium synthetic leather seating. Both models come with 6-way driver and 4-way passenger adjustments for tailored comfort.

The following advanced driver assistance system 2.0 (ADAS) functions are available to both vehicles: Front Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Traffic Jam Assistant (TJA), Door Open Warning (DOW), Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Speed Limit Reminder (SLR), Blind-spot Detection (BSD), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist (ELKA), Drive Away Information (DAI), Integrated Cruise Control (ICC), Intelligent Headlight Control (IHC), and Intelligent Avoidance System (IAS).
Multi Collision Braking (MCB) and Driver Monitoring System (DMS) are only available in the Tiggo 7 PHEV. Exclusive to the Tiggo 8 PHEV is the Driver Fatigue Monitoring System (DFS) function.

Khaki White comes as a standard colour choice with both of them getting two other exclusive options: Phantom Grey and a two-tone Blood Stone Red with black roof (additional RM2,000) for the Tiggo 7 PHEV, while the Tiggo 8 PHEV gets an Aurora Green and Carbon Black.
Both models are accompanied by 7-years of warranty coverage or up to 150,000km; 8-years warranty or up to 160,0000km on battery power pack, power motor and hybrid control unit; 5-years free labour service for six service intervals; and a one-to-one battery exchange if the battery’s state of health falls below 70% during the warranty period.
